The Metamora Wassailing Celebration Returns December 6
On Sunday, December 6, 2026, downtown Metamora will welcome the annual Wassailing Celebration and Horse & Carriage Holiday Parade. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the parade celebrates Metamora’s equestrian roots with a procession made up entirely of horses. No fire engines, no bands, no motorcycles. Just horses, carriages and plenty of holiday spirit.
The tradition of wassailing dates back centuries, when communities would gather during Christmastime to toast to good health, sing and celebrate together. Today, Metamora puts its own spin on the tradition with a holiday event that feels perfectly at home in our historic village.

Before or after the festivities, join us at The White Horse Inn for lunch, dinner or a festive cocktail. December is one of our busiest times of the entire year, and Wassailing weekend is especially popular, so advance dining reservations are strongly recommended. While you’re in town, be sure to stop next door at Metamora General to do a little holiday shopping and support local. It’s a great opportunity to check a few gifts off your list while enjoying everything downtown Metamora has to offer during the holidays.
